T I L L Y || S M I T H Life is like a photo we develope from the N E G A T I V E SOne would describe dorm G2 as impassive. The stink of stillness lingered in the air , beams of light barely breaching the thick grasp of the moth eaten curtains. The carpet was at best , worn , the couch moderately threadbare and patched up in a few places. The paint on the walls was a hideous peach - peeling and dented in a few areas , the ceiling fan whirring as it spun its circuits. Tilly lay , as inanimate as the room around her , sprawled out on the couch , eyes closed and breathing shallow. Locks of her amber hair twirled slightly against the draft , tickling her china doll face and leeching themselves to her neck. Then suddenly she stirred , pausing to stretch herself with cat like grace and yawn. She checked her watch - 2:00. She winced as her stomach complained. Maybe she shouldn't have skipped lunch. Walking over to her bed , she reached into her handbag , pulling out some gum. Gum wasn't exactly a sandwich , but she was feeling a touch bloated from her rather large breakfast. She checked the dorm around her for any signs of life - perhaps some bags or maybe a figure pressed between the covers of a bed. Tilly made a face. No one in sight. She'd been here for god knew how long , and she knew just about one person - Jade. Tilly made a clicking noise with her tounge , as if trying to summon a random person for her to talk to. She sighed - still no one. She was sure she had roomates - she had seen their luggage a day or two before - but still she hadn't met anyone. Because she went to bed early and got out of it pretty late , she rarely saw anyone. Threading out her sceince book from her towering pile of homeowrk , she got out a pencil and began to draw at the back of it. Her work was abstract - a single person , their limbs long and disfigured , sitting alone , while , on the other side of the page , a group of people standing together , shaded in so that their faces were unclear. Tilly paused before raising an eyebrow. Oh crap. Note to self - do not draw in back of sceince book when bored.

Mei wandered down the hall towards her dorm, daydreaming wistfully of her childhood and her Misa. She figured that at this hour, the room would be empty--left for places meant for hanging out like shopping centers or the park. Planning on having a good cry, she slipped quietly in, sniffling.
Noticing another girl laying on the bed next to hers, she realized that this must be one of her new roommates. Their names had appeared no the name plaque by the door underneath hers a few days after she had arrived. She watched the girl for a moment, trying to decide if she was the girl called Tilly or the girl called Lyla. Sighing, she thought about leaving, planning on going somewhere else, anywhere else than this place with the girl drawing all over her textbook. This girl would probably try to find out what was making Mei sad, and she wasn't sure if she could deal with that.
With the one hand, she rubbed her eyes, hoping to wipe the tears from them before her roommate noticed them. The girl seemed so content to be drawing that Mei didn't want to distract her with her problems. The picture seemed quite fascinating, but then, Mei wasn't an artist, so she didn't know much about art. It would be a shame for the girl to stop drawing just to talk to Mei. Still, it would be worth introducing herself. She remembered just in time that people in the west did not bow, so she held out her hand awkwardly, hoping the girl would shake it.
"Hi. Welcome to the dorm," she said slowly, breaking the silence. "My name is Mei. What is your name?"

T I L L Y || S M I T H Life is like a photo we develope from the N E G A T I V E STilly lifted her head at the slight utter of words , beaming a warm smile toward the girl. Finally , salvation from boredom. She dropped her pencil on her science book , paying no attention to where it rolled from there. She propped herself up from the bed , extending her hand and gently shaking Mei's. ' Hiyas Mei. That's such a pretty name . I'm Tilly Smith ' she said , her voice harmonious and her smile warm. Her aquamarine eyes focused gently on the girl , soft and welcoming. She noted briefly that the girl had previous been crying - her cheeks were slightly flushed , and her eyes held the slightest hint of a withdrawn tear. Tilly didn't ask. Sometimes it was best not to ask - she knew how it felt. Sometimes when her mother hit her, she would bruise badly , and god did she hate it when people asked. Sometimes she wished she could just disappear. No more Tilly Smith. No more pain. Just nothing. Willing herself to reality , Tilly paused before speaking again. ' Wanna catch some lunch or maybe go for a walk? ' she said softly , hinting that she knew something was wrong , but not making it dead obvious. ' Have you been to the canteen yet? I hear theres some delicious chocolate' she asked , her eyes lighting up with curiosity again. And maybe a touch of hunger. Despite being a health nutĀ , Tilly had a MAJOR sweet tooth. Anything with sugar was the go for her. Plus , chocolate always made her feel better when she was sad. Releasing she still had some buried at the bottom of her bag , she leaned down , opening her bag. Makeup spilled everywhere. She swore , though the word was somewhat muffled as she weaved her hands in and out , until finally she pulled out a chocolate bar , the caramel kind. She could feel through the wrapper it was still cool from hours of refrigeration. She held it out toward Mei , offering a warm smile. ' Try it' she said softly.

Mei looked at the chocolate being held out to her warily for a moment before taking it from Tilly.
"Thank you," she said, her accent especially thick in those two words.
Unwrapping it, she realized that it was caramel. It had been her favourite kind as a kid. Looking at it made her stomach growl. This reminded her of what Tilly had actually said.
"Lunch sounds good." Breakfast had been a long time ago, as her stomach's now constant grumbling told her. In order to shut it up, she took a big bite of the chocolate bar and was greeted by the sweet taste of caramel chocolate. Unfortunately, her stomach liked it too. She laughed again. "Sorry...As for the chocolate, thank you."
{OOC: sorry it's short. and took forever...the flu ate my brains}
