Jade looked at the bright sky. It was amazing to her how pretty the sky was this time of year. She twirled in a small circle her short black and red flying out around her.
"Ok so now, what do we do?" She said in a frisky tone, her eyes bright and alert, the grin on her face wide and contagious.
She was happy to be out here with someone she liked, it was nice to have someone she cared about around. It was weird, but it was true. She did care about Jason, just the short time they had known each other, she had grown immensely fond of him.

The park was surprisingly quiet, especially when you considered the glorious weather. Jason didn’t mind though, it gave them more room play, and he didn’t particularly want kids asking to come over and join in.
Jason took hold of the bat properly, and demonstrated to Jade how to hold it. “First, you take hold of the bat with your right hand, or left, depending on which is your dominant hand. That hand has to be as low down the handle as possible, and then with the other hand, grab hold of the handle just above the other hand. Both thumbs should be pointing down the bat.” Jason spoke with quite a serious voice; perhaps you could say it was his instructor’s voice. “Then, you stand side ways on to where the bowler would be, and you’re pretty much ready to go. When the bowler bowls, you try and move you front foot forward to where you think the ball is going to bounce, and then hit it as it comes to you!”
He handed the bat over to Jade; it was quite a big and heavy bat. It came up to just below his hip, including the handle, and it was one of the heavier bats in production. It gave the bat extra power, so it was easier to hit big shots, which was very much Jason’s style of play. “You’re turn,” he said with quite a cheeky smile. He watched meticulously as the girl took the bat. He then went down the other end, about ten yards away from Jade, and threw a tennis ball, under arm to see how Jade would fair.

Jade let out a little "oof" noise as the bat dropped to the ground in her hands.
"Ok, dominant hand down, thumbs down, OH here comes the ball, FEET!" She quickly adjusted her feet. She swung the bat, and was surprised when it actually moved a couple of inches, making no contact with the ball what-so-ever.
"Hey I actually was able to move the bat," She said grinning faintly. Damn the bat was heavy! She was amused by the game and thought that it would be allot of fun, once she got more practice in.
"Alright let's go again," She said her voice lower, and her eyes narrowed. She wasn't very competitive, just enough to make her want to master things that were a challenge to her.

A sheepish grin came to Jason’s face as Jade played her first cricket shot. It was not dissimilar to what happened when Jason played in his first match. “You know, I did the exact same thing when I played my first game, completely missed it and I was out first ball, and got a right earful off my coach.”
“I’m sorry the bat is a bit of the heavy side, for the type of player I am, or should I say was, I needed a heavy bat,” said Jason somewhat sympathetically. He jogged round to get the tennis ball, and moved back to where he was previously standing. He couldn’t help but smile at Jade’s determination to learn the sport; it was not something most teenagers were willing to do. “Right then, here it comes,” and with that, he threw the tennis ball again.

((OOC: S'okay, I've got phillosphy and phsycology bouncing around in mine. I think my muse ran away in fear, lol!))
Jade grinned as he told her about the first time he played cricket. It was nice to know that she wasn't just sucking in general, but more because she was new at this.
Jade's tounge faintly crept out of the corner of her mouth and her brows furrowed in concentration. She tried to swing again and was surprised when nudged the ball a bit.
"Omigosh! I touched it with the bat!" She said a wide smile breaking onto her face.
After a moment she puased and blinked,"I touched it with bat," She mumbled and shook her head at the stupidity of her own statement.
"It's cool, maybe it will help me build of strong muscles," she said smiling away his appology,"After all your being nice enough not to laugh at my horrible skills."

((No sign of my muse returning >:F))
A faint smile came across Jason’s face as he observed Jade’s reaction to actually making contact with the ball. Although he only smiled a little, it did not truly represent how funny he found it. He couldn’t imagine what she would be like if she hit it for miles.
“Very good,” was his response as he gave her put his thumbs up in a show of appreciation.. “A bit more practice and you’ll be a master bats…woman in no time!” The reason he paused was because he had never experienced women’s cricket before, so he didn’t know you were supposed to call the batters. Either way, he knew what he meant!
He shook his head as she said he was being nice for not laughing at her, although he did frown slightly as she mentioned about the bat building her muscles. “You don’t need muscles to be a good cricket player,” he said in the best way he could think of so he didn’t seem sexist in any way. “It’s all about timing. And besides, there is nothing to laugh at, cricket takes a lot of practice, at least you’re giving it a go, which is a lot more than most people would do!”

((OOC: Awww, Jade-muse just tried to flake out on me..I got her though))
Jade grinned at him; she was having a good time. She was very grateful with how nice he was being with her about the whole thing.
"That would be really freaking razor," She said letting one of her old terms slip from her mouth. She rolled her eyes in amusement, she was pretty sure she looked like a bloody twit, but it was still cool to actually imagine herself good at a sport that didn't involve her fists. Though it did involve a bat, she mused grinning very mischievously.
"It's actually a really fun sport, and I like the bat," She said with a little smile,"I can understand why you like it. I bet it relieves a lot of stress. Especially when you can actually hit ball more than two inches."
She rolled her eyes at herself in a good natured self deprecating way.

((Sorry for delay!))
Jason raised a curious eyebrow at the term Jade used. He wasn’t entirely sure what ‘razor’ meant; although he took a guess that it meant something along the lines of ‘cool’. He also noticed the rather mischievous grin, but he wasn’t entirely sure what it was about.
“It’s alright at first, but after a while it can get dull, especially as a batsman. If you get out in the first few balls its pretty much your afternoon over, but at least it lets you forget about things for a few hours, that’s pretty much why I took it up.” Jason sighed slightly, although it was more of a happy sigh than a sad sigh. He was now free of all the torment he suffered at home, and he saw cricket as the start of his ‘new life’ so to speak. “It is a nice feeling though when you play a good shot and score some runs, especially when you get applauded by your team, it kind of makes you feel like you have a purpose…”
Jason had never spoken like this to anyone. Although he hadn’t really revealed much, it was the most he had revealed to anyone about his troublesome past, such was the sense of friendship and connectivity he felt he had with Jade.

She had her head cocked to the side a bit. She looked over at Jason, and ran her hand through her hair.
"Yeah, feeling like you have a purpose is always a good thing, and forgetting about things is even better. I remember once I took up boxing, the release that I felt when I was fighting was the most amazing thing ever. I felt like I was good at something for the first time in my life,"She said softly, looking down at the ground nudging the grass with her battered sneaker.
She sighed and looked up after a moment; attempting a small smile.
"Shall we get back to the game," She said voice slightly thick, and eyes bright.
